A combined effort between deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Washington Township Police Department resulted in the successful execution of a pair of arrest warrants on Friday, Feb. 7 at a residence in the 11000 block of Kickapoo Path in Lakeview.

Dawn Helton, 33, and Ronald Shoffner II, 60, both of Lakeview, were arrested on outstanding warrants and were charged with obstructing official business following a brief foot pursuit.

Law enforcement arrived shortly after 6:30 p.m. to 11392 Kickapoo Path to serve the warrants. As law enforcement approached, Shoffner and Helton attempted to flee on foot and a brief pursuit ensued. Officers caught up with them behind a residence on Chickasaw Path. Shoffner reportedly refused to comply with multiple commands to show his hands.

After ignoring verbal orders and repeatedly reaching into his pocket, Shoffner was taken to the ground by officers and placed into handcuffs. Helton was also taken into custody at the scene without further incident.

Both suspects were transported to the Logan County Jail.
