An altercation between a man and a woman in Stokes Township resulted in both individuals being arrested late Saturday night, Feb. 8, after deputies responded to a call for help from a concerned neighbor.

Adam Coggeshall, 45, of Lakeview, was arrested for assault. Jessica Couch, 30, of Hamilton, was arrested for criminal mischief.

Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded shortly before 10:30 p.m. to a residence in the 11000 block of Circle Drive in Lakeview after receiving a report of a woman that sought help from a neighbor. The woman told the neighbor she had been kicked out of a house by a male and was afraid to return.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Couch, who was visibly upset and admitted to being intoxicated. She reported to deputies that she had been in an altercation with Coggeshall and said that he had choked her but initially declined to press charges.

Coggeshall told deputies that Couch had become erratic after drinking. He claimed she damaged his bedroom door, and refused to leave the house. Video from his phone reportedly showed Couch yelling at him and forcefully attempting to enter his room. Deputies observed significant damage to the door, estimated at $350 to repair.

While investigating the incident, deputies located Couch’s phone behind a bed in the spare bedroom, where she had reportedly attempted to call 911 before the altercation escalated. After further questioning, Couch changed her statement and decided to pursue charges against Coggeshall for choking her. Deputies noted minor red marks on her neck.

Both individuals were lodged in the Logan County Jail.
