SPRINGFIELD — Athletes from Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan and Indian Lake competed in the first day of Central Buckeye Conference track and field meet at Kenton Ridge on Tuesday.
On the boys’ side, Ben Logan won the Mad River division 4×800 meter relay in a time of 8:33.80. The relay team was made up of Tyler Shoopman, Owen Jordan, Landon Zehner and Eric Hughes.
Indian Lake took third with Carson Clary, Bryan Mohler, Cason Lacher, and Aidan Stinebaugh (8:44).
Bellefontaine’s Hayden Maus, Oliver Grandstaff, Jake Moreland and Landon Gerwels were fourth (8:34.08) in the Kenton Trail division.
Hughes finished second in the Mad River 3200 meter run (10:51.78), Stinebaugh of the Lakers was fourth (11:34.11), Titus Kelly of IL was seventh (12:06.18) and Greyson Butler of BL was ninth (12:10.51).
In the Kenton Trail 1600m run, Maus was second (4:31.91) and Moreland was ninth (5:09.06).
Field events held Tuesday for the boys were discus, pole vault, and long jump.
DISCUS
Ayden Clary of Bellefontaine took first place (151-11) and Jordan Reed was sixth (112-9) in Kenton Trail.
The Raiders’ Gus Bibart was fourth (137-6) and Jaxon Bowman (124-11) sixth in the Mad River, while Indian Lake had Franklin Kinney eighth (119-9) and Christopher Timms 12th (102-8).
POLE VAULT
Ben Logan’s Grashyn Bailey was second in the Mad River (10-0), Indian Lake’s Will Faler third (10-0), Kyle Kibler of the Raiders fifth (9-6), and the Lakers’ Kyle Kibler eighth (8-0).
On the Kenton Trail side, the Chieftains’ Jeffrey Smith was second (10-6).
LONG JUMP
Quest Clay of Indian Lake was fourth in the Mad River field (20-1/4). Ethan Miller of Ben Logan was seventh (19-3 1/4), and Kade Richardson of the Lakers was 10th (17-8).
The Chiefs’ Maddox Marlen was eighth (18-3/4) and Jeffrey Smith ninth (17-5 3/4) in Kenton Trail.

GIRLS
In the 4×800 meter relay, Bellefontaine took second with Kaeleigh Flora, Hannah Wilson, Kailyn Newman and Grace Brown second (10:33.93) in the Kenton Trail division race.
In the Mad River race, Indian Lake’s Evie Wagner, Myiah Ankrom, Cameron Finfrock, and Reagan Rash finished third (10:38); and Ben Logan’s Lexi Archer, Nora Elliott, Estella Wenger and Gwen Smith were fourth (10:56.19).
Brown was third in the Kenton Trail 1600m run (5:22.61), and Cece Reier was ninth (6:16.52).
In the Mad River 3200m run, Ben Logan’s Gwen Smith was sixth (13:40.87). Evie Wagner of Indian Lake was eighth (13:52.16), Estella Wenger of Ben Logan was 10th (14:17.04) and Haley Metzger of the Lakers was 11th (14:40.41).
Field events held Tuesday were the shot put and high jump.
HIGH JUMP
Bellefontaine took second with Shawna Burnell and third with Rylie Reames both clearing the bar at 4-10 for Kenton Trail teams.
On the Mad River side, the Lakers’ Ava Faler was second (5-0) and Addison Beck sixth (4-8), with Madi Oaks of the Raiders seventh (4-6) and Ella Chamberlin ninth (4-4).
SHOT PUT
Kelsie Snapp of Bellefontaine won the event at 38 feet, 6 inches for the Kenton Trail squads. Kaidi Freeman was seventh (27-8 1/2).
For the Mad River teams, Autumn Cline of Ben Logan was second (32-0); Maddie Miller of Indian Lake third (31-2), Terra Beltz of Indian Lake fifth (30-8), and Lahna Cook of Ben Logan eighth (27-8 1/2).

Track events for both divisions will be the 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400 relays, 100/110 and 300 hurdles, and the sprints (100, 200, 400 and 800), along with the 1600 for Mad River teams and 3200 for Kenton Trail schools.
