The Bellefontaine Police Department report three individuals were arrested over the weekend following two separate domestic disputes in the city:
• The first two arrests occurred at just after 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, following an ongoing incident in the 100 block of west Brown Ave.
At that time, police responded to 118 W. Brown Ave. on a report of a verbal altercation between two men. Officers report that they were able to separate the men and gave them both verbal warnings, but shortly thereafter, a resident of 118 W. Brown Ave. alerted officers to two men fighting inside the multifamily residence.
Officers were again able to separate individuals involved, but while speaking with officers, one of them, John Charles Brannan, 56, of 117 W. Brown Ave., reportedly again approached the complainant.
At this time, Brannan was arrested and taken to the Logan County Jail and charged with disorderly conduct.
Officers were called back to the 100 block of west Brown about 30 minutes later, when they arrested Dallas Clifton McKinley, 49, at large, who, despite the officers’ earlier warning, continued to taunt and menace a victim, the incident reportedly being caught on video.
McKinley was arrested and transported to the jail, where he was charged with persistent disorderly conduct.
• The third arrest occurred early Monday morning, May 19, when officers were called to 118 S. Springhill St. on the report of a domestic dispute.
According to the report, just after midnight, the victim told officers that Tessa Jo Cox, 19, 118 S. Springhill, and she were arguing over a cell phone when the incident became physical, with the victim saying that Cox had pulled her hair, kicked her in the stomach, and punched her several times, all in the presence of four children who live at the residence.
When police were called and the victim tried to prevent Cox from leaving the house, she reportedly climbed out of a window, breaking a screen in the process.
During the investigation, officers confirmed that Cox was on probation and she was located across the street from the residence. Cox was then arrested and charged with domestic violence and transported to the jail.
Officers noted one small, obvious injury to the victim, who refused EMS but said she would likely go to the hospital to be examined. A victim’s right form was issued to the victim and Cox reportedly provided a written statement of the incident at the jail.
