A woman who told officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department that she was homeless and needed help ended up getting arrested around 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, for cursing and yelling at them in front of the Logan County Courthouse after they told her they couldn’t drive her her out-of-county.

Joshlyn Weigel, 21, of Lima, was charged with persistent disorderly conduct and was lodged in the Logan County Jail. Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of south Main Street on a report that a woman, later identified as Weigel, had been sitting in front of the courthouse all day without any shoes.

Upon their arrival, Weigel could be heard yelling at another individual in the vicinity. She claimed that she didn’t want to go to a hospital and had been homeless for three years. Officers at the scene expressed empathy with her situation and attempted to talk her through her options, but that they could not drive her to Toledo.

Weigel began yelling at and cursing officers. After multiple efforts to calm her down, Weigel was told that if she didn’t stop yelling and swearing she would be taken to jail.

“Take me to jail,” she said, officers report. She was arrested and transported without further incident.
