A contractor doing work at a private Orchard Island, Indian Lake, residence Monday afternoon, May 19 was flown to an area hospital after falling from a ladder.

Officers of the Washington Township Police Department said the man, about 50 years old, sustained a serious leg injury about 12:45 p.m. after falling approximately 20 to 25 feet from the top of a ladder onto a roadway. The ladder was resting against a tree that gave way and fell at the time of the incident.

The injury victim, who was reportedly trying to move or remove a wire when the fall occurred, was flown by CareFlight helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

Officers did not believe the man’s injuries were life threatening.

Indian Joint Fire District and Indian Lake EMS assisted at the scene.
