Indian Lake softball falls to London

The Indian Lake softball team lost to host London 9-3 in Central Buckeye Conference play on Friday.

Bre Wisener and Halle Roby each pitched three innings for the Lakers. 

Wisener allowed three runs on three hits, with one walk and four strikeouts. Roby permitted six runs on four hits, with one walk.

Roby had three hits to lead the offense. Abigail Elliott drove in two runs and Mackenzie Dixon knocked in one.

London scored two runs in the first.

In the top of the third, Kit Miller led off with a single and Roby drew a walk. Elliott drove both across with a single to right field. London retook the lead with a sac fly in the bottom half.

The Lakers’ Izzi Mackesy singled to start the fourth. She would later score on a hit by Dixon. The Red Raiders answered again, this time with two runs to go ahead 5-3.

After a scoreless fifth, London added four runs in the sixth for the final margin.

Indian Lake (3-4 CBC, 7-6 overall) will host Northwestern on Monday.

BASEBALL

London 13, Indian Lake 0

Indian Lake was shut out by host London in Central Buckeye Conference action on Friday afternoon.

The Lakers had three hits, with one apiece by Kolton Cummins, Madden Lillard and Colten Corcoran.

Taking the loss was Cummins, who allowed six earned runs on nine hits in three innings, with three walks and two strikeouts. Corcoran pitched one inning, giving up one hit.

London scored seven runs in the first, five in the second and one in the third.

Indian Lake hosts West Liberty-Salem today at noon, with the JV following.

Marysville 18, Ben Logan 8

Ben Logan lost to host Marysville in nonleague play on Friday.

Marysville scored two in the first and two in the second. After a run by Ben Logan in the third, Marysville got nine in the fourth.

Ben Logan responded with seven in the top of the fifth, but Marysville added five more runs. The game ended in the sixth.

Pitching for the Raiders were Soli Hughes, Cayden Brown, Andrew Frederick, and Oliver Morse. They allowed 10 hits, had 11 walks and got three strikeouts collectively.

Brown drove in three runs with a double and Bryden Morris hit a two-run triple. Carter Lyden had two hits as well.

The Raiders (4-3 CBC, 6-6 overall) will face Shawnee on Monday and Wednesday. The game on Monday is at Ben Logan.

BASEBALL

West Liberty-Salem 8, Catholic Central 3

West Liberty-Salem downed SCC in an Ohio Heritage Conference game.

The Tigers got out ahead early, with four runs in the first inning. The Irish closed the gap with three runs in the third.

It stayed that way until WL-S scored two in the fifth and two in the sixth to claim the win.

Jake Evans got the start on the mound for the Tigers, and he went 4 1/3 innings. He gave up three runs on four hits, with two walks and seven strikeouts. Finishing the contest was Brody Deam, who held SCC to one hit in 2 1/3.

At the plate, Deam had a double and triple. Caleb Hershberger and JJ Johnson doubled as well. Evans drove in three runs and Reese Oder brought in a pair.

West Liberty-Salem (5-1 OHC, 6-1 overall) visits Indian Lake today. Varsity will play at noon, followed by the JV squads.

Kenton Ridge 4, Ben Logan 1

Ben Logan lost to visiting Kenton Ridge in CBC competition.

The Raiders took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Kenton Ridge tied it in the fourth, then scored three runs in the sixth.

Bryden Morris pitched six innings, allowing four runs on five hits. He walked two and struck out three. Finishing up was Soli Hughes, with one hit and one strikeout.

Carter Lyden had a double and single and drove in the run for the Raiders. Hughes had two hits.

Milton Union 5, Riverside 0

Riverside was blanked by host Milton Union in Three Rivers Conference play.

Cooper Crouch was the losing pitcher, allowing seven hits and three earned runs in five frames, with two strikeouts and three walks. Syler Clark threw one inning in relief.

Gavin Orsborne, Landon Purtee, Syler Clark and Hayden Sanford had hits for the Pirates.

The Bulldogs scored four times in the first and one run in the third inning.

Riverside (1-7 TRC, 4-9 overall) will play at doubleheader at Fairbanks today. The first game starts at 11 a.m.

SOFTBALL

West Liberty-Salem 18, Catholic Central 0

West-Liberty Salem rolled to a four-inning win over Springfield Catholic Central.

Winning pitcher Kennedy Wallace allowed just one hit and one walk, and had five strikeouts.

The Lady Tigers had 13 hits, with two each by Kiersten Stoll, Olivia Reichardt, and Addison Hutton.

Reichardt and Wallace had three RBIs each, Stoll had two. Also getting RBIs were Audrey Collins, Kaylee Blair, Taylor Cook, Teagan Boyd, and Hutton.

West Liberty-Salem (3-5 OHC, 4-6 overall) will play at Greenon today at 10 a.m.

Kenton Ridge 10, Ben Logan 0

Ben Logan suffered their first conference loss on Thursday, losing to Kenton Ridge 10-0 in five innings.

Keeli Rostorfer and Skylar Miracle got walks and Rylan Norviel was hit by a pitch.

Chloe Crumm was the losing pitcher, allowing nine hits. She walked one and struck out two.

Ben Logan (6-1 CBC, 8-2 overall) will travel to Zanesfield today to face Riverside. The JV teams will play at 5:30, followed by varsity at 7:15 p.m.

Milton Union 12, Riverside 2

Host Milton Union defeated Riverside in TRC action. The contest ended after six innings.

Riverside got both of its runs in the first.

Milton Union had two in the first, third and fifth, plus one in the fourth. They added five in the sixth.

Riley Dillon pitched for Riverside, allowing 15 hits. She had one strikeout.

Brook Hunkler, Dillon and Emilee Robinson each had doubles. RBIs were provided by Dillon and Hunkler.

Riverside is 4-2 in the league and 10-6 overall.
