Chieftain swimmers sweep county meet

Bellefontaine’s boys and girls swim teams both finished first in the Logan County meet on Tuesday at the Hilliker YMCA.

In the girls meet, Bellefontaine finished with 105 points. Indian Lake was second with 73 and Benjamin Logan took third with 42.

Winning events for the Lady Chiefs were the 200 medley relay team of Morgan Henry, Olivia Ullom, Kate Myers and Joslyn Robinson, the 200 freestyle relay of Robinson, Elaina Ullom, Olivia Ullom and Henry, Ashton Carey in the 200 freestyle, Myers in the 200 IM, Olivia Ullom in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke and Henry in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke.

Finishing second for BHS were Elaina Ullom in the 200 freestyle and Robinson in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Adding third-place finishes for the Chiefs were the 400 freestyle relay of Myers, Zoey Rister, Maddie Ullom and Elaina Ullom, Elaina Ullom in the 100 freestyle, Maddie Ullom in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, Kaeleigh Flora in the 100 butterfly and Rister in the 500 freesytle.

“Our girls were led by their seniors tonight,” said BHS head coach Sharon Lewis. “Joslyn Robinson, Morgan Henry and Olivia Ullom combined for eight top-two finishes including their relays. From there, the team played on their depth. The B relays swam solid races to grab additional points for the team and 10 girls scored individually.”

In the boys meet, the Chiefs tallied 92 points to finish ahead of the Raiders (82) and Lakers (37).

Bellefontaine had three winning relays. Those included the 200 medley of John Fulmer, Aidan Mifsud, Elias Abrego and Nolan Core, the 200 freestyle relay of Cooper Harman, Mifsud, Core and Blake McDonald and the 400 freestyle relay of Abrego, Fulmer, Cooper Harman and McDonald.

Winning individual events for the Chiefs were Nolan Core in the 200 freestyle, Mifsud in the 500 freestyle and Abrego in the 100 butterfly.

Taking second for the Chiefs were Core in the 500 freestyle, Ryan Alexander in the 200 freestyle, Mifsud in the 50 freestyle, Fulmer in the 100 butterfly and McDonald in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke.

Adding a third-place finish for the BHS boys was Beckham Harman in the 200 IM.
“Starting with the very first relay, a come from behind victory by only two-tenths of a second, this meet was exciting,” said Lewis. “The boys had to battle in every race and every participating boy contributed to our team score. Seniors Aidan Mifsud and Blake McDonald combined for 6 top two finishes including their relays.”

BL boys 2nd, girls take 3rd

Benjamin Logan’s boys finished second and the Raider girls were third in the Logan County meet Tuesday.

Leading the BL boys with wins were Utah Coleman in the 200 IM, Luke McKenrick in the 100 freestyle and Robert Leezer in the 100 breaststroke.

Contributing second-place finishes for the Raiders were the 200 medley relay of McKenrick, Leezer, Liam Sweeney and Coleman, the 200 freestyle relay of Leezer, Finch Hone, Jerrik Stephens and Landon Braddock, the 400 freestyle relay of McKenrick, Braddock, Coleman and Sweeney, Braddock in the 200 IM and Carter Daniels in the 100 breaststroke.

Adding third-place finishes for the Raiders were the 200 freestyle B relay team of Daniels, Dylan Vance, Micah Musser and Taavo Simovart, Coleman in the 100 freestyle, McKenrick in the 100 backstroke, Leezer in the 50 freestyle and Sweeney in the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle.

The Ben Logan girls team was led by second-place finishes from the 400 freestyle relay team of Annika Chappell, Brooklyn Horner, Allison Moore and Winnie Bodin, Moore in the 200 IM and 500 freestyle and Bodin in the 100 butterfly.

Taking third were the 200 freestyle relay of Chappell, Horner, Moore and Bodin, Bodin in the 100 breaststroke and Chappell in the 50 freestyle.
