Two out-of-county suspects were arrested Thursday, April 17, after a traffic stop by officers of the Russells Point Police Department resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
William Hayes of Springfield was charged with possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension and failure to comply. His passenger, Sunny Parson, also of Springfield, was also charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers on patrol around 10:18 p.m. reportedly observed a traffic violation on U.S. Route 33 near Wilgus Drive. The gold Buick sedan did not stop immediately and continued eastbound while both occupants were seen moving around inside the vehicle. The car eventually pulled over in the 100 block of Sunnyside Avenue.
Officers noted signs of impairment in Hayes and confirmed he did not have a valid license. After consenting to a search of the vehicle, officers found a yellow plastic duck with a straw protruding from the top containing a white powdery substance, as well as several pieces of a crystal-like substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Both individuals were transported to the Logan County Jail without incident.
