April Tuttle, 36, of West Mansfield, was arrested Wednesday, April 16, after deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office discovered suspected methamphetamine inside her vehicle while she was parked outside a closed business.
Around 3:54 p.m., a deputy on patrol observed a gray Honda Accord backed into a parking space in front of the Brown Bean Coffee Shop, 13627 N. State Route 235, a business known to be closed. The deputy identified the vehicle’s registered owner as Tuttle, who is known to law enforcement and reportedly has a history of narcotics use.
Upon making contact, Tuttle reportedly was in the driver’s seat with the door open, using a knife to remove something from her foot. A consent search of the vehicle was requested, due to prior suspicious activity and thefts in the area, as well as Tuttle’s known background.
Tuttle’s handbag was located on the passenger seat, and inside the bag, deputies found a vinyl glove containing an unknown white substance. Tuttle claimed her sister had left it behind. Also located was a folded paper inside a clear container holding a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.
Tuttle was detained and later and charged with possession of a controlled substance. She claimed the meth might have belonged to her sister. The meth tested positive in a field test and weighed approximately a half-gram.
She was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
