Lakers fall in ACME state tournament

Indian Lake’s ACME baseball team lost a pitcher’s duel Monday in the state tournament.
Van Wert ACME edged out the Lakers 2-1.
Both teams were strong on the mound on Monday, but the Van Wert Varsity Cougars ACME was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 2-1 victory over Indian Lake ACME.
Madden Lillard started the game for Indian Lake and went six strong innings, giving up two runs (zero earned) on three hits. He struck out seven and walked a batter.
Van Wert got on the board in the fourth inning after Briston Wise grounded out, scoring one run.
Lillard, Tyler Tidwell and Brady Golliday each collected one hit for Indian Lake. Lillard drove in Indian Lake’s sole run. The leadoff hitter went 1-for-2 on the day.
Indian Lake drew six walks as a team. Griffin Schaub and Kolton Cummins led the team with two walks each.
