Lady Lakers win their own invitational

On the strength of a new school record performance in the 400-meter relay, Indian Lake’s girls track and field team won its own Laker Invitational on Thursday.

The Lady Lakers, who are now 73-7 on the season, tallied 153 points for their win. St. Marys was second (140), Lima Bath took third (95), Greenville was fourth (76) and Wapakoneta was fifth (53) in the 11-team event. Calvary Christian was 10th (14) and Indian Lake’s B team finished 11th (12).

On the boys side, Lima Bath won with 122.5 points. Rounding out the top five were Wapakoneta (109), St. Marys (94), Greenville (78.5) and Perry (75.5). Indian Lake was seventh (59), Calvary was ninth (24.5) and Indian Lake B was 11th (6).

“The kids competed well in our last regular season meet,” said Indian Lake coach Justin Metzger. “It is always nice to win your own meet and break a school record in the 4×100 relay. We are excited to head into the league championships next week.”

Leading the Lady Lakers was the group of Elayna Richardson, Reece Martin, Ava Huffman and Addison Beck. They ran a school-record time of 51.20 to win the 400 relay.

The previous best was 51.77 and was set in 2015.

Also winning events for the Lady Lakers were Reece Martin in the 100 hurdles (16.66), Stephanie Altstaetter in the shot put (36-1), Ava Faler in the triple jump (30-8.75) and the 1,600 relay team of Richardson, R. Martin, Reagan Rash and Cameron Finfrock (4:13).
Placing second were Elayna Richardson in the 400 (59.98), Evie Wagner in the 3,200 (12:59), Ava Faler in high jump (4-10) and pole vault (8-0), Maddie Miller in the discus (106-0) and Grace Pequignot in the shot put (35-11).

Placing third for the Lakers were the 3,200 relay team of Hannah Metzger, Reagan Rash, Evie Wagner and KaiLea Miller (10:55), Reagan Rash in the 1,600 (5:50) and 800 (2:37), Hannah Metzger in the 3,200 (13:13), Stephanie Altstaetter in the discus (102-6) and Marah Reames in the triple jump (29-2.25).

Finishing in fourth for the IL girls were the 800 relay team of Huffman, Beck, Jalan Martin and Finfrock (1:53) and Richardson in the 200 (26.59).

Fifth-place finishes went to Addison Beck in the 100 (13.59) and KaiLea Miller in the 1,600 (6:00), while sixth-place efforts went to Regan Ross in the discus (80-8) and Andi Miller in the triple jump (27-1.25).

Placing seventh were the 3,200 B relay of Cambria Tuttle, Makayla Motter, Andi Miller and Maggie Reese (12:44) and KaiLea Miller in the 800 (2:50).

Finfrock added an eighth-place finish in the 100 (14.02).

Indian Lake’s boys team was led by a first-place finish from Brant Parsell in the 300 hurdles (41.75).

Placing third for the Lakers were Isaac Morrison in the long jump (18-1) and Brody Parsell in the pole vault (11-6), while fourth-place efforts went to the 3,200 relay team of Vincent Wilson, Heath Wilson, Grant McPherson and Tony Cummins (9:16), the 1,600 relay team of McPherson, Isaac Morrison, Brant Parsell and Everett Wischmeyer (3:41) and Caiden Gauntt in long jump (18-0).

Contributing fifth-place finishes were the 400 relay team of Quest Clay, Drake Cosby, Isaac Morrison and Caiden Gauntt (46.55), Brant Parsell in the 110 hurdles (16.54), Christopher Timms in the shot put (37-3.5) and Caiden Gauntt in the triple jump (34-10.25).

Placing sixth was Ryan Culp in pole vault (11-0), while finishing in seventh were the 800 relay team of Heath Wilson, Drake Cosby, Quest Clay and Draden Stevenson (1:40) and Grant McPherson in the 800 (2:14).

Placing eighth was Quest Clay in the 100 (11.99) and Gavin Henry in the triple jump (33-6.75).

Reinhard, Daniels lead Calvary

Abigail Reinhard led Calvary Christian’s girls team Thursday with a third-place finish in the 300 hurdles (51.85).

Also for the Lady Spartans, Anastacia Rogan was sixth in the 100 (13.85) and seventh in the 200 (29.49) and Ruby Slemmons finished sixth in the 1,600 (6:04.54).

For the Calvary boys team, Ephraim Daniels led the way with a third-place finish in the 400 (54.23). He also finished fifth in the high jump (5-8).

Also for the Spartans, John Gaertner was fourth in the 800 (2:10.06), the 800 relay team of Clay Howard, Caleb King, Daniels and Nehemiah Dillon finished fifth (1:38.36), the 1,600 relay team of Howard, Gaertner, King and Daniels finished sixth (3:43.97), the 400 relay team of Howard, King, Christian Rogan and Dillon finished seventh (47.78) and Howard was eighth in the 400 (57.15).
