Bellefontaine girls turn away Redskins

Bellefontaine’s girls basketball team beat visiting Wapakoneta 49-36 in a nonleague game Tuesday night.

The Lady Chieftains are now 7-6 on the season. The Redskins fall to 2-10. Bellefontaine led 12-8 after one period of action.

The Chiefs held a 22-15 lead at halftime.

The Redskins outscored Bellefontaine 12-11 in the third quarter to cut the BHS advantage to six points (33-27).

However, the Chiefs used a 16-9 run in the final stanza to pull away.

Quinlan Zedeker paced Bellefontaine with 15 points, five assists and five steals.

Lexi Robinson tallied 13 points, Tiffany Boop had nine points and four assists, Alexza Clifton had five points and nine rebounds and Parker Penhorwood added five points and three assists.

Bellefontaine is back in action tonight at Waynesfield-Goshen.
