David R. Cooper, 38, of Lakeview, was transported by Indian Lake EMS to Lima Memorial Health System for treatment of suspected serious injuries after a one-vehicle crash Sunday, April 30, that ended at the Lakeview Marathon gas station, 12500 State Route 235.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating a westbound 1999 Honda Accord about 1:15 p.m. on S.R. 235 when he went across the road and off the left side on a curve, traveling through a small grassy area sideways and onto the parking lot surface of the gas station.

Cooper’s car then traveled through the parking lot and ran over a gas pump, dislodging it and knocking it over.

Deputies said alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash. The driver reportedly was not wearing his seat belt, and has been cited for failure to control, with other citations pending.

Damage was heavy to the car, which was towed from the scene. No other injuries were reported.

• Passenger Riliegh Martin, age unavailable, of Kenton, was transported by BMRT EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries sustained in a crash Friday morning, April 28.

She was a passenger in a vehicle operated by Brittany N. Whitt, 38, of Kenton.

Whitt reportedly was operating an eastbound 2021 Kia Soul on State Route 274 about 7:20 a.m. when she stopped at the stop sign at U.S. Route 68. She then proceeded into the intersection and the front end of her vehicle was struck by a northbound 2015 Ford Fusion operated by Nicholas Beasley, 23, of Bellefontaine.

The Beasley vehicle continued off the road to the right, striking the side of a residential structure at 6872 E. S.R. 274, owned by Josh Downing. Damage was heavy to both vehicles, which were towed from the scene.

No other injuries were reported. Whitt was cited for failure to yield and Beasley was cited for a child restraint system violation related to one of his passengers.

The defendant then reportedly followed his father into a bedroom and pushed him.
