A teenage suspect was arrested Wednesday, March 9, on multiple drug charges following a traffic stop by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department in the area of 316 Kristina Drive.

Aiden Skaggs, 14, of Bellefontaine, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a probation violation.

According to the police report, an officer was patrolling Kent Drive at approximately 2:04 a.m. when he observed a silver Chevy Equinox fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Kent Drive and Wright Street.

Officers made contact with the driver and passenger, Skaggs. Officers reported seeing both occupants move erratically, and asked that they step out of the vehicle. Skaggs continued to reach into his clothing, and officers observed what appeared to be a pill bottle and other bulges in his pants.

Upon a pat-down search, Skaggs removed two digital scales, one of which had white powder residue, and a pill bottle that contained a dime-sized bag of a white substance and 15 white pills identified as Tramadol, a Schedule IV drug. Police later confirmed the white powder tested positive for cocaine.

Skaggs told officers that the driver handed him the items, but the driver denied that. He was given a warning for the traffic violations and released from the scene.

Police seized multiple items from the scene, including a Cash App debit card, two Apple iPhones, the digital scales, Tramadol pills, plastic baggies with residue, and a facemask.

Later, while being booked into custody, additional contraband was discovered in Skaggs’ possession an Altoids tin containing two razors and traces of white powder.

Skaggs was lodged in the Central Ohio Youth Center.
