Strong 4th quarter sends WL-S boys past Knights

West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball came up big in crunch time Thursday to beat Greenon 60-55 in a Division III sectional tournament game at Northmont High School.

The 12th-seeded Tigers are now 13-10 on the season and advance to play second-seeded Preble Shawnee at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Northmont.

Greenon finishes its season with a record of 6-17.

The Knights proved to be a pesky opponent for the Tigers.

Greenon led 15-10 after the first quarter and the Knights held a one-point advantage (25-24) at halftime.

WL-S was able to tie the scored at 42-42 after three quarters.

The Tigers then outscored the Knights 18-13 in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Taran Logwood led the Tigers with a game-high 20 points. Miles Hostetler had 18 points, Brevin Louden scored 10 points and Matt Jones added eight points.

Griffin Turner led the Knights with 19 points.
