Two defendants each charged in separate cases with violent attacks against their spouses were indicted this week by a Logan County grand jury on felonies including murder and felonious assault, respectively.
A grand jury indicted Kenton Quint, 66, of Bellefontaine for aggravated murder and murder, as well as three firearm specifications in connection with the March 18 shooting death of his wife, Wanda Quint, at the couple’s home on Clagg Street.
Quint was arrested the same evening after officers from the Bellefontaine Police Department responded to the residence around 4:38 p.m. and found his wife deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.
Woman indicted for stabbing husband
A Bellefontaine woman accused of stabbing her husband during a March 22 domestic dispute has been indicted for felonious assault and domestic violence.
Audrey Gibson, 29, of Bellefontaine was arrested at her west Columbus Avenue home after police responded to reports of a stabbing and found her husband bleeding from a stab wound. Officers reported Gibson has a prior domestic violence conviction.
The case originated when officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were on the phone with a witness regarding a separate incident when that witness reported an ambulance was needed at the residence. He told police that the victim was bleeding on the kitchen floor.
Officers arrived and found the victim, later identified as Gibson’s husband, sitting on a mobility scooter covered in blood. The victim had a large open stab wound on his right buttock. He told police that Gibson had stabbed him.
The victim was able to back his scooter out of the house, while the witness assisted officers by removing other aggressive dogs from the home, including a therapy dog belonging to Gibson.
Bellefontaine EMS transported the victim to Mary Rutan Hospital. He was later transferred to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for further treatment.
After being informed that Gibson was upstairs, officers ordered her to come outside. Gibson eventually complied, walking to the door with her hands raised. As she was being handcuffed, she repeatedly said, “I didn’t mean to. I didn’t want him to hurt Zeus,” according to a police report.
As officers were detaining Gibson, two dogs inside the house began attacking another dog. Officers closed the door to separate the animals.
