Game of Life decisions

Honda Federal Credit Union recently presented the “Game of Life” simulation to Bellefontaine High school students, and a “Car Buying Experience.” The Game of Life is a program that helps students analyze spending, create budgets, and compare potential monthly payments with their chosen career’s earnings. Community volunteers from related professions guide students through real-life financial decisions, such as purchasing a car, housing, childcare, and everyday expenses.  The simulation began with students “aged” to 27, where they chose occupations, determined salaries, and made decisions about marriage and family, providing a stark glimpse into real-world financial pressures. Students also participated in a “Car Buying Experience” where they learned more about that process and how to navigate it. Students who are enrolled in a course that fulfills their financial literacy requirement were all invited to attend. This helpful tool aids students in navigating their 3E path — Employed, Enlisted, Enrolled — for the future. (SUBMITTED PHOTO)
