I am in disbelief as I watch a national news report that reveals the Democratic governor of Michigan and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources are considering clear cutting over 400 acres of state-owned forest near Gaylord, Michigan, to allow the installation of solar panels. This should infuriate anyone with a functioning brain.
The mere thought of cutting down a forest (the lungs of the earth) to make room for solar panels, which have been deemed to be a short term solution to the energy problem, and are produced from materials by strip-mining another large portion of the earth, is insanity. This shows the lengths that the land acquisition companies and the investors (mostly foreign) behind this solar debacle will go.
Forests and farmland mean nothing to them, they are only interested in the bottom line. This report strengthens the belief that I and many others know to be true, that the green energy rush has absolutely nothing to do with our environment and saving the earth, but only to put money (much of it is our tax dollars) into the pockets of a few.
I have been told that if we are to condemn one source of power we should support another. With the refinement of nuclear power I, for one, would like to see this promoted as a safe, efficient, long-term answer to the energy problem.
I urge you to help stop the Grange Solar project in the Indian Lake Region of Logan County by writing letters of opposition to the Ohio Power Siting Board. Please include the Case # 24-0801-El-BGN in your letter. Stop the insanity!
