Public intoxication charge filed
Anthony S. Partington, 44, of 5786 Township Road 95, Huntsville, was charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest related to an incident Saturday, July 22.

Deputies responded about 3:25 a.m. to the area of State Route 274 and T.R. 95 on a report of a suspicious man walking in the ditch and roadway.

When deputies arrived in the area, they located Partington and said he was laying S.R. 274 and was having extreme difficulty getting off the road, as if he was highly intoxicated.

Upon speaking with deputies, Partington told them he was going “home” and later said he was walking to Huntsville for cigarettes. Deputies also observed an odor of alcohol on his person.

Deputies attempted to place the defendant under arrest for his own safety, and he initially resisted deputies’ efforts to place him in handcuffs. He reportedly was taken to the ground so that deputies could safely handcuff him.

Once in the backseat of the patrol car, deputies observed that Partington had a cut on his forehead, where he made contact with the roadway. The Logan County Jail would not take the defendant until he had been medically cleared at Mary Rutan Hospital.

After he was treated and released at the hospital, he was lodged in the jail.

• Dustin T. Wells, 31, of Jackson Center, was charged with persistent disorderly conduct related to an incident Monday, July 24.

Deputies responded about 9 p.m. to 5891 County Road 21, Lewistown, on a report of a domestic dispute between a father and a son.

When they arrived, they observed the defendant standing on the front porch and said he had blood on his T-shirt. Wells’ father also had blood on his nose and a bruise on the right side of his face.

Deputies said both Wells and his father were uncooperative with then and changed their stories several times about the altercation between the two of them. Deputies were unable to determine who the primary aggressor was in the altercation.

However, both parties said they would be OK if Wells left for the evening. Deputies tried multiple times to get Wells to make a phone call to get a ride, but said he kept wanting to argue.

After an hour of being at the residence and attempting to get Wells to leave, deputies placed the defendant under arrest and transported him to the jail.

A copy of the incident report also was sent to Logan County Children’s Services, as Wells’ child was at the home at the time of the incident.
