Troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a two-vehicle serious injury crash that occurred about 5:47 p.m. Thursday, April 17, on State Route 47 at County Road 9.
David Miranda, 53, of Bellefontaine, sustained serious injuries and was transported by CareFlight to the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
Troopers report a 1997 Peterbuilt semi-tractor and trailer operated by Cody Weber, 28, also of Bellefontaine, was traveling eastbound on S.R. 47 in the left lane approaching the intersection of County Road 9.
A 2014 Honda CR-V operated by Miranda was also traveling eastbound on S.R. 47 in the right lane, when he made an unsafe lane change to the left lane and was struck by the semi. The Honda then traveled off the north edge of State Route 47 before coming to final rest.
Weber did not sustain any injuries from the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Bellefontaine Fire & EMS, Tri- Valley EMS, Bellefontaine Police Department, Logan County Sheriff’s Department and Top’s Towing.
Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
Both drivers were wearing their safety belts.
