Willis A. Roby Jr., 77, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at the Campbell Place. He was born in Bellefontaine on March 20, 1946, to the late Marcella (Ringler) and Willis Roby Sr.
On September 21, 1968, he married the former Patricia Eileen Miller, and she preceded him in death on October 12, 2015. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Doug Roby and his son-in-law, Ren Alinson.
He is survived by children: Julie Alinson, Scott Roby, and Brett (Lexi) Roby; grandchildren: Matt (Desiree) Alinson, Heather (JP) Belluscio, Morgan (Wade) Thompson, Lance Alinson, Blake Roby, Quinn, and Myles Roby; 7 great grandchildren; brothers: Mike (Charlotte) Roby and Blayne (Patricia) Roby; sister-in-law, Sue Roby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A United States Army Veteran, Willis had many achievements including a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, a Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, a Good Conduct Medal, an Expert Rifle Badge, and an Army Accommodation Medal. He was a 1965 graduate from Buckeye Local High School, a member of the Eagles and VFW in Bellefontaine and worked at SuperFoods/ Nash Finch for over 30 years.
Willis was a fan of pro wrestling, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed staying up late to watch action movies and liked to play BINGO. He also cherished his time with his friend, Jim Reames at the Campbell Place near his final days.
There will be a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
