William Patrick Hackett, 78, of Bellefontaine, passed away Thursday morning, April 6, 2023, at his home.

Bill was born in Bellefontaine on July 25, 1944, to the late William Philip and Eva Marie (Von Lanken) Hackett.  He was also preceded in death by a brother Don Michael Hackett, a sister Barbara Sue Tierney, and his former wife Debora Kay (Boyd) Hackett.

Bill is survived by his children:  Kelly Marie Hackett of Vandalia, Thomas Hackett of Bellefontaine, and Keri (Stephan) Hackett Campbell of Bellefontaine; 6 grandchildren:  Kyle, Chase, Kaden, Riley, Jaeden, and Ava; a sister Margaret Ann (George) Becker of Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Bev Orahood of Bellefontaine.

Bill worked for Conrail for many years and retired as a foreman.  He was an active and loyal member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  Bill was also a member of the Moose and American Legion.  He had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them – they were all very important to Bill.  In his younger years, Bill was an accomplished baseball player and later helped coach youth teams in Bellefontaine.

A visitation for Bill will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023, from 10:30am-12:30pm at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine.  Fr. Shawn Landenwitch will officiate the funeral mass on Friday, April 21, at 1pm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
