St. Clair elevated to No. 1 player by national recruiting outlet
According to the recruiting website Rivals.com, the number-one high school football senior in the country resides in Bellefontaine.
On Monday, the site announced that it has elevated BHS senior quarterback Tavien St. Clair to the top spot in its 2025 individual rankings.
A video of Chieftain head coach Jason Brown informing St. Clair and the rest of the squad of the news in the team’s locker room was posted to Rivals’ X account.
“He’s a great example of a hometown kid, small town dreams coming true,” Brown told his squad. “He’s an inspiration for not only just us but people all across this country, so let’s make sure the world knows that the number-one player according to the Rivals website lives here at Bellefontaine High School and plays for the Chieftains.”
At 6-4 and 225 pounds, St. Clair is highly regarded by all of the major recruiting services.
The future Ohio State Buckeye is ranked second overall and is the second-ranked quarterback by 247 Sports, he is the No. 2 and number eight player by On3 and the No. 3 signal caller and 15th-best senior by ESPN.
St. Clair enjoyed a sensational summer. He was among the top performers at the Elite 11 quarterback camp in Los Angeles and he then was named the quarterback MVP at the Rivals Five-Star camp in Florida.
A starter since his freshman year at BHS, St. Clair was a first-team all-Ohio selection as a junior when he was 233-of-330 passing for 3,083 yards and 37 touchdowns with just six interceptions. He also ran for 352 yards and four touchdowns on 36 attempts.
St. Clair and the Chieftains will begin the 2024 campaign Aug. 23 at Sidney.
