Rushsylvania Lions Club celebrates 40 years

Norris awarded Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for Humanitarianism

The Rushsylvania Lions Club met on Thursday, July 17, at The Flying Pepper in Bellefontaine for their annual installation of officer’s dinner meeting and in celebration of their 40th anniversary of the club’s founding. 

In addition to installing officers, a longtime Lions Club member received special recognition. 

Lion G. Bruce Norris was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for Humanitarianism for his many years of service and dedication to Lions. The award is the highest award given by Lions Club International and was presented by Past District Governor Lion Darlene Roll. 

The new officers were also installed by Past District Governor Roll. The newly elected officers are: Bill Wreede, president; Judi Wroten, first vice president; Jason Miller, third vice president; George Clayton, board member; Chuck Skidmore, treasurer; Clay Eagy, board member and assistant secretary.

Other officers who were unable to attend include board members John Bayliss and Andy Johnson.

The club’s scholarship recipients for this year, along with their parents, were guests of the club for the evening and pictured from left to right are Blake Frazier, Noah Stanford, and Bryden Morris. Taytum Daniels was also a scholarship recipient but she was unable to attend.

All students are graduates of Benjamin Logan High School this year and received $1,000 scholarships to the college of their choice.
