Troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol report 271 vehicles passed through a planned sobriety check-point Saturday evening, July 19, which was conducted in the city of Bellefontaine with the help of the Bellefontaine Police Department and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
Of the 271 vehicles, two vehicles were diverted for suspicion of impaired driving. No arrests were made, troopers said.
The sobriety checkpoint took place along south Main Street near west Lake Avenue from 8 to 10 p.m.
In addition to the checkpoint, officers conducted saturation patrols in the vicinity of the checkpoint.
The OVI checkpoint is funded by federal grant money. OVI checkpoints are planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers, as well as educate motorists.
The patrol reminds motorists, if you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink.
Don’t let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired.
