Robert ‘Bob’ Houchins

Robert “Bob” Houchins, 83, of Lakeview, OH passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 1, 2023, surrounded by his family at Mary Rutan Hospital.

Bob was born in Manhattan, NY, on March 22, 1939, to the late Robert and Margaret Houchins of Lakeview, where he loved to return and visit with family. He is survived by his 3 sisters: Mary (Richard) Downing, Sue (Jim) Brake, Nancy (Ron) Leonard, his brother Richard (Marilyn) Houchins and his brother in-law Jim (Barb) Timms. Bob was proceeded in death by 2 sisters; Maureen Liberatore, Margie Armstrong and 4 brother in-laws; Weasel Liberatore, David Armstrong, Mike Groves and Terry Timms.

On June 20, 1959, Bob married the love of his life Charlotte Timms, of the late Charles and Lauree Timms. Charlotte has been waiting for Bob to join her since 2014 but waiting on him is something she had plenty of practice at. Together they had 5 kids that they loved endlessly; Teresa (Ron) Postle, Jeff Houchins, Lori (George) Lones, Bobby (Laura) Houchins and Chuckie Houchins who proceeded them in death at only 1 month old. Bob had 13 grandkids; Jason Rice, who proceeded him in death, Mandy Hart, Jarrett Houchins, Whitney Vasquez, Aaron Lewis, Jordan Houchins, Brittany Morton, Breann Yanchik, Erica McGlone, Adam Houchins, Trey Lones, Chris Postle, and DJ Postle and 12 great grandkids.

If you knew Bob, you know that there was nothing he loved more than Charlotte and his family. Bob and Charlotte built a home welcoming to family and friends alike. There was always something bringing everyone together but there were a few special events that everyone looked forward to. The Ohio State vs Michigan game was always a party you didn’t want to miss. If you heard Bob was making chicken, even though it took 6-8 hours to cook, everyone showed up in the driveway. Bob loved having everyone together and having a good time. He was a kind and generous person who made everyone feel loved. A fresh tomato from his amazing garden, a cold beer, or a good story, he was happy to share any of them. He will be missed by many.

As a family, we would like to say a special thank you to Carol Wicherson for taking such amazing care of him for the past few years. You made it possible for him to stay home close to us and all of his memories.
