Rita E. Zimmerman, 85, of Waynesfield, OH passed away Friday afternoon, September 8, 2023, at Lima Memorial Health Systems.

Rita was born on March 1, 1938, in Lakeview, OH, a daughter of Henry and Gaynell Ridgeway Miller. She married Donald O. Zimmerman on June 7, 1956, in Jeffersonville, IN, and he preceded her in death on May 27, 2022. She is also preceded in death by three sisters, Freemont Miller, Loy Weldon, and Jane Ann Rigel, and eight brothers, Marion, Max, Merle, Verlin, R.L., Gene, Doyle, and Carroll Miller.

Rita is survived by three children, Jerry (Roger) Zimmerman of Harrod, OH, Vicki Zimmerman, and David (Renee) Zimmerman, both of Waynesfield, five grandchildren, Brooks (Chelsea) Zimmerman, Brittaney (Ryan) Clouse, Breigh-Anne (Colby) Shobe, Kylan (Gaige) Hennon, and Brynna (Keaton) Fetter, 16 great grandchildren, Lane Shobe, Olivia Shobe, Ava Shobe, Luke Shobe, Paisley Hennon, Caide Hennon, Jentry Hennon, Presley Hennon, Remington Clouse, Chaney Zimmerman, Quinn Zimmerman, Banks Zimmerman, Carter Fetter, Mason Fetter, Ella Fetter, and Crue Fetter.

Rita was a 1956 graduate of Stokes Local School. She worked at Gray’s Orange Barn for 23 years. Rita enjoyed working on jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Her greatest joy was being with her family and attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s events and activities.

A celebration of Rita’s life will be held at Waynesfield Lions Club on October 8, 2023, starting at 5:00 pm.
