Rick L. Beck, 70, of Lewistown, OH passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in Bonaire, Dutch Caribbean.
Rick was born on June 5, 1953, in Bellefontaine, OH, a son of the late Wayne and Mary Norviel Beck.
Rick married Terry Henry on August 18, 1979, at the Church of Christ in Christian Union in Bellefontaine, and she survives along with their daughter, Brittany Hutslar of Lewistown, three granddaughters, Lilly Hutslar Beck, Laney Hutslar Beck, and Lucy Hutslar Beck, a sister, Robin (Frank) Godsil of West Liberty, two brothers, Randy (Dawna Reames) Beck and Rodney (Tricia) Beck, both of Lewistown, and several nieces and nephews.
Rick was a 1972 graduate of Indian Lake High School. He was a member of Lewistown-Trinity United Methodist Church. Rick had a deep love for his community and was a dedicated servant to the Indian Lake area, Logan County and Washington Township his entire working career. First as a Washington Township Police Office, then as a Logan County Sheriff’s Deputy.
He later became an instructor at Ohio Hi-Point JVS, teaching criminal justice and law enforcement, retiring as their discipline coordinator. Rick served as a Washington Township Trustee for nearly 30 years, was a past board member of Indian Joint Fire District and a member of Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533 and Indian Lake Eagles Aeries #3615. He dressed as Santa Claus for many community Christmas events over a 30-year span.
Rick enjoyed music and singing karaoke. Rick’s greatest joy came from spending time with his wife, Terry, and his family.
Pastor Rod Bowman will begin a funeral service at 5 p.m. Friday, December 8, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview, with visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. A reception dinner will follow services at Lewistown-Trinity United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 16, at Desperado’s in Huntsville with BJ & Billie. Inurnment will be at a later date in Lewistown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Rick’s family c/o Quest Federal Credit Union.
