Peggy A. Wilcox, 85, of East Liberty, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus following a brief illness.
A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, she retired from Ranco following over 30 years of service. A longtime member of the Marysville Eagles #3506, she was also a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association Columbus Chapter H, the Bellefontaine Chapter B-1 and the Union County Chapter U-1. She was a former member of the Red Hat Society in Marysville. She loved going out to eat, but most of all, she cherished her time spent with her three generations of grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews.
Born April 19, 1938 in Galloway, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Alice (Woodruff) Long. On August 17, 1959 she married her husband of 32 years, Richard L. Wilcox and he preceded her in death on August 15, 1991. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Jack Long; sons-in-law, Keith Montgomery and Robert “Pup” McColloch; a sister, Patty VanHoose; brothers, Roger (Patty) Long, Steve Long and Bob Long and brothers-in-law, Dick Morris and Joe Berry.
She is survived by her daughters, Virginia “Ginny” Montgomery and Sandra “Sandy” Wilcox, both of East Liberty; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Long; grandchildren, Chad Long, Mitchell (Krystle) Current and Jessica (J.D.) Gibson; great grandchildren, Victoria (Dillon) Harrison, Toby Current, Mitchell Current, Jr., Kane Gibson and Kaelin Gibson; great-great grandchildren, Aiden and Amelia Harrison and Bentley Current; sisters, Phyllis (Joe) Calle of Plain City, Linda Morris of Plain City, Jane Berry of Marysville and Alice Renn of TN. and Tina Long of Plain City; brothers, Frank (Jean) Long of Unionville Center, Tom (Janet) Long of London, John (Brenda) Long of Plain City, Jerry (Debbie) Long of Plain City and Tim (Pam) Long of Marysville; a brother-in-law, Gene VanHoose; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Peggy will be at 11 a.m. Monday, August 7, at the Wilson Funeral Home 621 W. Fifth St. Marysville. Pastor James Taylor will officiate and burial will follow next to her husband at the East Liberty Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 6, at the funeral home.
