Judith “Judi” A. (Clatterbuck) Neely, 81, of Russells Point, OH, passed away early Monday morning, May 6, 2024, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, OH.
Judith was born on May 27, 1942, in Canton, OH, a daughter of the late Thomas W. and Dorothy E. Wadsworth Clatterbuck. She married Robert Douglas Neely on December 29, 1967, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Massillon, OH, and he preceded her in death on February 10, 2017. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Marie Myers, her son-in-law, Roger Myers, her daughter-in-law, Amy Tarkington Neely, and a brother, Richard T. Clatterbuck.
Judi is survived by her son, Robert D. Neely II of Russells Point, two grandchildren, Hayden D. Neely, and Kyler (Coleen) Tarkington, a sister, Joanne C. Hess of Columbus, OH, and a brother, David C. (Alice) Clatterbuck of Massillon.
Judi spent her career doing what she loved in teaching children. Judi earned her BS in education from The Ohio State University and Master of Education from Wright State University. She taught elementary science and math at Indian Lake Schools in Huntsville and Lakeview, and for Ben Logan Schools until her retirement in 2000. After retirement, Judi continued to be a substitute teacher. She was a member of Galilee Lutheran Church in Russells Point, a life member of Girl Scouts, and also served as a Girl Scouts leader, a member of an Epiphany Group and Indian Lake Women’s Club. She was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds.
Pastor Karen Torrez will begin a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Galilee Lutheran Church, 301 Lincoln Blvd, Russells Point.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Judi’s memory to Logan County Cancer Society c/o Mary Rutan Hospital.
