John David Michael, 103, of West Liberty, passed away Sunday morning, September 24, 2023, at Ayden Health Care Belle Springs.
John was born on November 27, 1919, to the late Cletus Ernest and Mary Etta (Yoder) Michael. He married Marcia Jean Wyandt on October 6, 1951, in Bellefontaine, and she preceded him in death on June 6, 2003. John was also preceded in death by his sister, Grace Lawson.
He is survived by daughters: Susan Lantz of Urbana, Nancy (Barry) Skaggs of Gahanna, and Mary Jo Price of Lakeview; 7 grandchildren: Sarah Yoder, Rachel Lantz, David (Parker) Marting-Lantz, Rebecca (Tyler) Griffin, Jody (Shawn) Drunkenbroad, Jason (Teri) Ober and Michael (Laura) Price; and 14 great grandchildren.
John was a member of the Urbana Nazarene Church and enjoyed going on mission trips. He had many hobbies throughout his 103 years, and they included gardening, playing piano, and refinishing antique furniture. At Christmas time he loved to make caramels and collect nutcrackers. He also collected milk bottles from every state. He will be remembered as a faithful provider for his family, and a generous man with a servant’s heart.
There will be a graveside service for John on September 26 at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty, and there will be a celebration of life scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Logan County Friendly Senior Center, 934 S. Main Street, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311.
