Jeremy Michael Fillinger, 50, of Marion, OH passed away while surrounded by his family on Friday, February 28, 2025, at The OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, OH.
Jeremy was born on October 11, 1974, in Bellefontaine, OH, a son of Patty (Dearwester) Cozad and the late Bob Fillinger. He was preceded in death by a stepfather, Tim Hagedorn, maternal grandparents, James B. Dearwester and Wilma Dearwester, and paternal grandparents, Charles Fillinger, and Freda Coats.
Jeremy is survived by three sons, Austin, Evan, and Jordan, all of Henderson, NV, his mother and stepfather, Patty and Dan Cozad of Lake Wales, FL, his brother, Jared Fillinger of Marion, stepmother, Diana Fillinger of Rushsylvania, OH, stepbrothers and stepsisters, Tara (Todd) Joseph, Steve Lockwood, Jason Cozad and Chris Cozad, all of Bellefontaine, Rich Cozad of South Carolina, and Heather Cozad of Xenia, OH, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jeremy attended both Ben Logan and Indian Lake Schools and graduated from Indian Lake High School in 1993. He attended Marietta College and was a veteran of the United States Army. Music was a passion of Jeremy’s throughout his life. He was a Meistersinger and performed in musicals and choir at Indian Lake. He performed on the Becky Thatcher Showboat while at Marietta College. After serving in the Army, Jeremy moved to California and then Henderson, NV. He continued his love for music and performance, performing with Shirley Jones, as a member of several touring tropes performing Phantom of the Opera and Sesame Street Live, and worked on many productions in Las Vegas. He was an avid OSU Buckeyes and San Francisco 49ers fan. He loved being with his boys and encouraged them to follow their passions. After a long medical struggle, Jeremy looked forward to meeting Jesus and singing in His choir.
A memorial service will begin at 4:00 pm, Saturday, March 8, 2025, with gathering of family and friends from 2-4 pm at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview. Inurnment will be in Huntsville Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Jeremy’s memory to Indian Lake Music Department.
