Janet L. Brunke, 98, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 6:53 a.m. on Monday, February 5, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born in Logan County, Ohio on July 19, 1925, to the late Oram A. and Alice L. (Standley) Burnside.

On March 12, 1946, she married Lawrence Raymond Brunke, and he preceded her in death on June 28, 1987. Janet was also preceded in death by a son, John W. Brunke; and her siblings, Henry Eldon, Millard “Bud” Lee, Clarence Everett, Kenneth “Dude” Andrew, John Paul, Oram Herbert, Glen “Bill” Atha, and Kathryn Jean.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Smith, Lori Morris, and Linda (Gary) Anderson; her sons, Larry (Linda) Brunke, and Michael (Margaret) Brunke; daughters-in-law, Connie Brunke, and Shirley Brunke; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Janet was a member of the Bellefontaine First United Presbyterian Church. She loved being with her family and they were her whole life. Janet was a “mom” to many, not just her children. She liked keeping chickens and watching cowboy westerns. Janet loved eating out with her sisters-in-law and trying new restaurants each time. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Pastor Daniel McCarty will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Zanesfield Cemetery.
