Lillian P. Tackett, 29, of Bellefontaine, was charged with public intoxication related to an incident Saturday, Nov. 8, after she reportedly left Mary Rutan Hospital’s Emergency Department, not long after she reportedly was involved in an impaired driving crash.

Officers were dispatched to the area of the hospital shortly after 11 p.m. after an emergency department nurse reported that Tackett had left the hospital. Officers said they were familiar with the defendant, since she had crashed her vehicle earlier that day, and said the investigation revealed she was impaired during the crash.

Officers located Tackett walking southbound on north Park Street, in the opposite direction to head toward her residence.

When officers stopped to speak with her, they noticed she was unsteady on her feet and stumbling while still wearing her hospital gown and jeans. They also noticed the odor of alcohol emanating from her person and she also struggled to form sentences, officers said.

Tackett was medically cleared by hospital staff. Then she was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.

Skip-scanning incident leads to arrest

Amanda Hanley, 25, of Bellefontaine, was charged with theft related to an incident Saturday afternoon at Walmart of Bellefontaine, 2281 S. Main St.

Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched to the store at 5 p.m. in reference to a shoplifting complaint.

Upon arrival, they met with the store’s asset protection investigators and Hanley.

An asset protection investigator reported that the defendant had “skip-skinned” multiple items while checking out at a self checkout lane. The stolen grocery and household items totaled $46.51.

Hanley said this was a mistake on her part and that she didn’t purposely “skip scan.” However, video surveillance showed her picking up two items and only scanning one item and then placing the two items into a grocery bag, and repeating this process multiple times.

She was placed under arrest and lodged in the jail.
