Snowy day for Field of Honor

Some snowy views around Logan County abounded Monday morning and afternoon, Nov. 10, for the first measurable snowfall of the 2025-26 season, including snow that blanketed Blue Jacket Park and the Veterans Day Field of Honor organized by Bellefontaine High School students and staff.

Area students enjoyed school delays and cancellations on Monday as well.

The Field of Honor display continues through Friday, Nov. 14, but the snowy surroundings will likely cease, as temperatures are predicted to warm into the mid-40s and 50s later this week.

Last week, BHS students and staff placed more than 550 flags honoring local veterans for the display. Each flag showcases the name of a veteran or active service member and their branch in the military.

The names were submitted by students, staff and family members this fall.

The project is collaborative effort, working alongside the Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District on the grid for the flags, which are on the high school soccer practice field. The joint recreation district is also providing lighting over the flags each night.

Bellefontaine Elementary School printed the names of each veteran or active service member.

Students from the community service classes and resource room at Bellefontaine High School helped with the project.
