Harold W. Spriggs, 80, of Lewistown, OH, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023, at his home.
Harold was born on September 8, 1942, in Marysville, OH, a son of the late Henry and Laura James Spriggs. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Cole Spriggs, two siblings, Donald Spriggs, and Jean Bennington, a son, James A. Bailey, and three sons-in-law, Bruce Stayner, Greg Blevins, and Charles Wilson.
Harold married Janet Prater Bailey on June 28, 1994, at the Marysville Church of the Nazarene and she survives. He is also survived by five children, Gwen Stayner and Kathy Blevins, both of Ostrander, OH, Steve (Amy) Spriggs of West Mansfield, OH, Ed (Sandy) Bailey of Hanover, IN, and Charlotte Wilson of Lakeview, 14 grandchildren, Kevin (Andrea) Stayner, Matthew (Staci) Stayner, Nichole (Jon) Brown, Andrew (Taylor) Blevins, Haley Spriggs, Sadie Spriggs, Reese Spriggs, Amanda (Chris) Neaves, Carrie (Robert) Cottingham, Desiree (Pacer) Cooley, Michael Bailey, Brandon Bailey, James (Geraldine) Bailey, and Cody Wilson, 20 great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Susan P. Bailey of Lakeview, and several nieces and nephews.
Harold was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Siemens in Bellefontaine. Harold was a member of Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God in Alger, OH, a life member of Ohio Gun Collectors Association, and member of NRA. He was a former volunteer firefighter for Scioto Township Fire Department in Ostrander, and former Boy Scout leader. He was a jokester who enjoyed arrowhead hunting, attending gun shows, and watching western movies.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview. Pastor Jim Gatchell will officiate a memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God, 2050 Twp Rd 120, Alger, OH 45812.
Memorial contributions may be given in Harold’s memory to Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God.
