Harold Dane “Tu Minks” Britton, 81, of Lakeview, OH formerly of Russells Point, OH, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, OH.

Dane was born on September 24, 1942, in Lima, OH, a son of the late William H. “Bud” and Dixie L. Reedy Britton. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Diane Fox and granddaughter, Kiersten Britton.

Dane is survived by six children, Danielle (Jamie) Stidam of Lakeview, Jamie (Jeremy) Sopher of Bellefontaine, OH, John (Misty) Woodruff of Cable, OH, Harold Dane Britton, Jr. of West Liberty, OH, Lynn (Scott) Smith and Sharon (Jerry) Saunders, both of Bowling Green, OH, 26 grandchildren, Harold Dane Britton III, Kaylee Britton, Jarrod Smith, Anthony Smith, Natasha, Devon, Hunter, Maggie Woodruff, Chloe Woodruff, Sydney Woodruff, Mason Woodruff, Candace Shafer, Austin Brill, Alyssa Kielman, Kaylena Kielman, Addison Kielman, Jamie Stidam II, Cynthia Kiefer, Zack Stidam, Mckala Keith, Haiden Stidam, Easton Crapnell, Landon Sopher, Clayton Sopher, Byron Sopher, and Jaxon Sopher, 17 great grandchildren, and a sister, Marta (Jack) Too mey of Jackson Center, OH.

Dane was 1961 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He retired from Westinghouse in Bellefontaine. Dane was a member and former director of Logan County Fish and Game, and board member for the Logan Hills Festival. Dane was inquisitive and had many interests and hobbies including gun collecting, woodworking, basketweaving, airbrushing, ceramics, and model airplanes. He was a car and motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed watching the races at ShadyBowl. Dane’s two greatest love though were telling stories and his family. He could always be found attending events for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, May 11, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview.
