A Bellefontaine man landed in the Logan County Jail following a traffic stop on the west side of the city Monday, July 1.

Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report that Greg Ferguson, 64, was stopped by officers about 6:30 p.m. on West Sandusky Street near Pratt Street after he was clocked driving 55 mph in a 35 mph zone.

When police spoke to Ferguson, they noted a rifle sitting on the passenger’s seat of the vehicle.

Police report that Ferguson showed signs of intoxication and once he was asked to exit the vehicle, he failed field sobriety tests.

A cup containing what was believed to be spiritous liquor was found in his vehicle, at which time Ferguson was arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail, where he refused to submit to a breathalyzer test and reportedly twice told officers that he should have used the rifle, which was identified as a .22-caliber AR model with a full 25-round magazine.

The rifle was placed into evidence and Ferguson was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, using weapons while intoxicated, open container, and speeding.

Man placed on immigration hold after incident at travel plaza

Ali Manual Abreu Salazar, 24, of Chicago, Ill., was taken into custody by police Monday about 3:49 a.m. Monday at Love’s Travel Stop, 2001 State Route 540.

According to the report, Salazar entered the business, inquired about bank account information, and after being refused service, returned to his vehicle as police were being notified.

Once officers arrived and asked Salazar for identification, he reportedly showed police a Venezuelan driver’s license and ID card, admitting at that time that he did not have a U.S.-issued driver’s license or Social Security Number.

While Salazar was being questioned, dispatch contacted Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and learned that Salazar’s parole with ICE expired in March 2025 and informed officers to take him into custody. Salazar was arrested and lodged in the Logan County Jail without incident, while his car was towed from the scene.

• Police also reported the arrest of Stephanie Nicole Beair, 42, at large, Monday on an outstanding warrant for aggravated possession of drugs.
