The Bellefontaine High School National Honor Society inducted 23 new members Wednesday night, Oct. 25, during a ceremony at the BHS auditorium. The new inductees are Ryan Alexander, Taylor Banta, Tiffany Boop, Brody Boy, Laila Butler, Ava Campbell, Madison Christman, Nolan Core, Carissa Cozad, Alex Crabill, Mia DeLong, Andie Eicher, Gabe Ferguson, Hunter Kerns, Blaine Mitchell, Annabelle Myers, Kate Myers, Brianne Sechrest, Savannah Sheeley, Zane Tevis, Haylee Yelton, Alexis Yoder and Airiana Young. High school juniors and seniors must complete an application and write an essay to be considered for induction. Other requirements include a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and a minimum of six hours of community service each year in high school. Students must also demonstrate the four pillars of NHS – Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. The featured speaker for the ceremony was BCS Gifted Intervention Specialist Katie Davis, who graduated from BHS in 2002. She shared her life experiences with the new inductees, recalling being inducted into NHS and also challenging each student to make great choices. She said her late grandfather, Jack Marshall, made a lasting impression on her because of his love for family, farming and education. Michelle Rohrer is the Bellefontaine NHS adviser.
