Carl “Gene” Eugene Miller, 85, of Lewistown, OH, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, OH.

Carl was born on August 4, 1938, in Lewistown, a son of the late John F. and Roxie L. Saunders Miller. Gene married Patrecia Shoffner on June 6, 1958, and she preceded him in death on January 12, 1987. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bruce T. Willoughby.

Gene married Pamela Willoughby Verdier on July 5, 1988, in Kentucky and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Theresa (Bob) Grant of Lewistown, three stepsons, Steve (Kathy) Verdier of Anna, OH, Mike Verdier and Scott Verdier, both of Sidney, OH, five grandchildren, Bobbi Edwards and TJ, Nikki Taylor and Tony, Lindsey (Steve) Pohlmaus, Hallie Verdier, and Brant Verdier, 10 great grandchildren, Haylee Edwards, Gavin Edwards, Tristan Taylor, Finley Taylor, Ashton Downing, Chase Downing, Sarah Cotterman, Leah Cotterman, Ashton Pohlmaus, and Hunter Pohlmaus, three brothers, Frank S. Miller and Edward L. (Rosilynn) Miller, both of Bellefontaine, and John R. (Nancy) Miller of Lewistown, a sister-in-law, Lajuana (Paul) Nation of Tipp City, OH., and several nieces and nephews.

Gene was a 1957 graduate of Washington Local School. He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves. Gene attended DeGraff Baptist Church. He retired from Airstream in Jackson Center after 43 years. Gene was a hard worker and loved working with his hands, building and remodeling homes for others. He enjoyed mowing and doing yardwork, vacationing, especially in the Smoky Mountains, and spending time with his family.

Memorial contributions may be given in Gene’s memory to American Heart Association.

Pastor Bruce Keeling will begin funeral services at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 6, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire, OH.
