Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities members discussed at their Thursday evening meeting, Dec. 7, the ARPA Grants that are available through the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.
The LCBDD is applying for the grants in the areas of supported connections and accessible communities in hopes of increasing funding for programming such as respite, music therapy, and adaptive/sensory related activities in the community. The agency is also applying for funding for an ADA-compliant mobile restroom facility.
The meeting began with the introduction of two new employees who have joined the Service and Support Administration Department, Julia Stefanac and Roni Burden.
The LCBDD is continuing to see an increase of people needing services and is currently serving 33 more people compared to November 2022.
The Community Recreation and Special Olympics Coordinators have been busy with a number of activities. The Aktion Club has been helping the community by picking up trash along State Route 47.
They are also having a Poinsettia Sale and donating $1 per poinsettia to help support an Indian Lake student’s Washington, D.C., trip.
Some of the Logan County Braves bowling team will be attending the Special Olympics National Unified Bowling Championship, which takes place Feb. 27-March 1, in Las Vegas. There will be fundraisers coming up to help support the bowlers attending the tournament.
The LCBDD Annual Report has been completed and is available at www.logancbdd.org.
