Barbara Jean (Gardner) Bartfield, 76, of West Chester, OH, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, in Cincinnati.
She was born in Bucyrus, Ohio on October 23, 1946, the daughter of the late Harold Kenneth and Margaret O. (Barth) Gardner. She was also preceded in death by her younger brother, Michael A. Gardner.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Michael A. Bartfield (Married July 15, 1973). She is also survived by their three children: Melisa Miller, David (Jennifer) Bartfield, and Heather (Bryan) Troyer, along with seven grandchildren; Sierra, Jasmine, and Lillian Miller, Regan and Olivia Bartfield, and Matthew and Ethan Troyer.
Barbara graduated in 1964 from Bellefontaine High School. After graduating, she moved to Columbus and started working as a statistician at Nationwide Insurance where she subsequentially met and then married Mike.
Barbara lived a happy life surrounded by things she loved. She had many collections. She began collecting items like thimbles, spoons, magnets, and snow globes over many family vacations. She also had pelicans, cows, and tins. As her children and grandchildren got older, they would bring her these collectibles from their adventures to share with her.
She spent her life raising children, cats, and plants, only one of which was quiet. She was quick to offer a smile and a friendly ear. She was called Mom Bartfield by all her children’s friends. She worked as a sales associate later in life at Wal-Mart and then Kohls. She loved to read the paper, watch the news nightly and watched Hallmark movies.
