Buoyed by her faith, a dream, support from her friends and family, and a longtime knack for cleaning and organizing, Misti Smith of Ridgeway has turned her passion into a thriving business. As the founder and CEO of Honestly Clean LLC, Smith has watched her company grow exponentially over the past five years.

Serving all of Logan County for residential and commercial clients, along with a growing client base in Hardin and Union counties and parts of Kentucky as well, Smith said she and her 22 team members love having the chance to help lighten the loads for their customers.

Honoring their customers’ trust and the chance to bring a sense of calm and peace into their clients’ homes and workplaces are priorities that the team takes to heart. The company backs all of its services with a 24-hour satisfaction guarantee

“Clients are what keeps us going. You give us the job and the motivation,” Smith said this week from her office in the lower level of The Marketplace, 130 S. Main St., Suite B107.

“It’s therapy for us to clean. It’s such a rewarding job to see what a difference we can make. We hope that you’ll feel blessed by the work we are able to provide to you and your families.”

“You can trust us to arrive and design a plan that fits your needs. We’re bonded, licensed and insured,” Director of Operations Bret McFadden said, noting that all staff also undergo professional training through the Maid Training Academy.

Honestly Clean LLC offers packages that are customizable to every budget and household, and provides free quotes for services. Smith noted that their prices vary based upon not only the size of the space, but also the specific types of tasks that are requested.

Some clients utilize their professional cleaning and organizing services in preparation for hosting family and friends for Thanksgiving or Christmastime, or other special holiday occasions, while others schedule regular cleanings throughout the year. Honestly Clean LLC offers flexible scheduling to accommodate morning, afternoon or weekend cleanings.

“Whether you’re trying to lighten your own cleaning load on a regular basis or you’re simply interested in a periodic deep cleaning, we can help and address your specific needs,” said Smith.

For more details, the company’s website www.honestlycleanohio.com also answers many potential customer questions in the Frequently Asked Questions section, addressing what cleaning supplies are provided, interacting with pets in the home, what to do before their cleaner arrives, etc.

As the company continues to grow, Smith said they are  currently hiring new team members, offering flexible schedules for employees, whether they want to work as a supplemental job, or part-time or full-time. Individuals are invited to apply through the Careers link on their website.

“We have some team members who just want to do one job a week, to supplement their income, and others who want to work more than 40 hours a week,” McFadden said.

“It’s wonderful that we have a lot of flexibility to offer opportunities to people of all ages, too,” Smith said, noting that individuals ages 16 and older with a valid driver’s license are eligible to apply.

“We have some high school or college students who work during their breaks from school.”

While team members are out and about on their cleaning jobs throughout the week, they have a home base in Honestly Clean’s office, where they can connect with each other and can also add a note to the prayer request wall in the space.

The company recently gathered its team members together for a five-year celebration at The Syndicate, offering a mid-day meal and appreciation for the dedicated employees.

Reflecting on the past five years, Smith said she’s overwhelmed with gratitude for the many people who have helped make this dream of business ownership a reality and for God’s careful provision from supportive friends and family to mentors who offered invaluable guidance and encouragement along the way.

Before launching Honestly Clean LLC, Smith, a Benjamin Logan High School graduate, built a career in human resources at Honda — experience she said helped her develop many of the leadership and organizational skills she relies on today. Smith related that she had fallen on some tough times personally, going through a divorce and bankruptcy. In 2018, she began Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace Program, and began offering cleaning services to a few clients as a way to earn extra money. At that time, she was still employed full-time at Honda.

However, it was the COVID-19 shutdown during 2020 that caused her to take the plunge into new territory, re-evaluating an idea she’d talked about with several close friends in the past, “What if you started your own company?”

“Now we have 22 team members and we just celebrated our fifth year of Honestly Clean,” the Ridgeway resident said.

“For anyone who has a dream, I want them to know that their dreams really can come true with hard work and perseverance. I started from a difficult spot, but people believed in me, even before I believed in myself. Without God, none of this would have been possible.”

She also noted that she wouldn’t be able to keep up with the business without the support of her family, including her husband, Todd, and children Addie, Jarrett, Cameron and Emma.

McFadden is also her strong supporter, bringing her business management talents as a former owner of her own business when she worked as a hairdresser, along with her knack for organization and making the schedule each week. The director of business operations said she enjoys the flexibility the job gives her to spend with her family, including her husband Jake and two children, Eisele and Wyatt.

The Honestly Clean LLC founder and CEO also extended her appreciation to Small Nation and the downtown business community
