SIDNEY — A juvenile male is in custody after police say he posted a threat of school violence on TikTok early Monday.
Sidney police reported they were alerted by the FBI around 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, about a “credible” threat referencing Sidney schools. Officers quickly notified city and parochial school officials as well as several daycare centers.
Working with the FBI, investigators identified a suspect and took him into custody later that day. A search of his home did not turn up any weapons or other means to carry out the threat, police said.
The youth was taken to the West Central Ohio Juvenile Detention Center. Felony charges are pending following review by the Shelby County Prosecutor’s Office.
