Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a two-vehicle, serious injury crash that occurred Saturday evening, May 3, on Township Road 200 just east of County Road 18.
Carie McCullough, 50, of West Mansfield, and a teenage passenger traveling in her 2000 Toyota Camry sustained suspected serious and minor injuries, respectively. Each was transported by Bellefontaine Fire and EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital.
Information on the conditions of the injury victims was not immediately available.
McCullough was driving her car eastbound about 7:15 p.m. on T.R. 200 when her vehicle was stuck head on by a westbound 1996 Ford minivan that reportedly went left of center at a curved area of the road.
The Ford’s driver, Richard Sparks, 50, of Heath, was not injured, according to reports.
Sparks “slammed” on his brakes when he encountered stopped westbound traffic prior to the crash, according to a crash statement he provided to deputies. His vehicle then lost traction and traveled left of center.
He was cited for a left-of-center violation.
The drivers each were wearing seat belts. The injured passenger was reportedly not wearing a seat belt.
Damage to the vehicles was disabling and they were towed from the scene.
