A tractor-trailer driver was cited Saturday morning, April 26, after the vehicle he was operating stuck the Bickham Covered Bridge on County Road 38 south of County Road 98.

Daniel Hanson, 40, of Maryland, was driving a northbound 2023 Freightliner on C.R. 38 about 9:05 a.m. when the top of the semi’s cab struck the bridge’s cross beam, deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report. The driver, realizing the semi wouldn’t fit, backed up to go around the bridge.

Hanson, who was not injured, was cited for a traffic control devices violation. He was wearing his seat belt, deputies said.

The semi sustained minor damage and no damage was reported to the bridge.
