Minor injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident that occurred in the southwest section of the city Monday, Sept. 15, about 4:17 p.m.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report Vernon M. Knotts, 71, of Bellefontaine, was traveling eastbound on County Road 11/west Lake Avenue when he attempted to turn northbound on to south Troy Road and failed to yield to a westbound vehicle driven by Kimsey L. Kennedy, 48, of DeGraff, resulting in a front-end collision.
Bellefontaine EMS was called to the scene for what were reported as minor injuries to Knotts, who was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment.
No updates on his condition were available and police report that Knotts was wearing his seat belt.
Knotts was cited for failure to yield. Both vehicles suffered heavy damage and had to be towed from the scene.
