A Lima woman driving the wrong way on U.S. Route 33 was arrested Saturday morning, May 24 on multiple charges.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office located a 2023 Kia Seltos sport utility vehicle around 5:07 a.m. traveling westbound in the left eastbound lane of U.S. 33 near the State Route 292 exit.
An initial traffic stop was made and deputies noted and an odor of alcohol coming from the SUV. The driver then made a U-turn and began traveling east on U.S. 33. Deputies activated lights and sirens and after brief pursuit were able to force the driver to stop a second time.
Deputies learned the driver, Allazai Rose , 25, is currently under three separate license suspensions, including one for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Deputies noted a reportedly “overwhelming” oder of alcohol coming from inside the SUV.
Field sobriety tests showed signs of impairment.
The woman told deputies she had a marijuana vape pen on her person. Additionally, a small clear bag of marijuana and a reusable cup containing suspected alcoholic beverage was found in the vehicle.
Rose refused a breathalyzer test at the scene and was transported to the Logan County Jail where she again refused the test.
The driver was issued citations for OVI, OVI testing refusal, driving under OVI suspension, non-compliance suspension and a divided roadway violation. She also received a summons for open container.
