A worker was claimed in an accident Thursday morning, Aug. 14, in Lakeview, while repairing a tornado-damaged building at 335 E. Brown St.
Alton Joshua Stotler, 48, of Lakeview, passed away from his injuries sustained in the accident, Washington Township Police Chief Michael Thompson reported in a media release.
About 9:17 a.m. Thursday, the Washington Township Police Department, Lakeview Fire Department and Indian Lake EMS were dispatched to the in reference to a structure fire.
Upon arrival, the Lakeview Fire Department, assisted by the Indian Joint Fire District, quickly extinguished a small fire in the commercial building.
Investigation revealed that a piece of machinery, operated by Stotler was being used to set roof trusses. The piece of machinery came into contact with a power line.
As a result, Stotler succumbed to injuries from the incident.
Units were assisted at the scene by the Village of Lakeview Electric, Logan County Coroner’s Office and Tops Towing.
The machine shop and storage facility was damaged in the March 2024 tornado and is owned by Lakeview residents James and Kelly Kauffman.
